OTTAWA – Ahead of tonight’s vote on their Opposition Day Motion urging MPs to condemn tax hikes on consumer goods, New Democrats are requesting that the Standing Committee on Industry, Science and Technology study the impact the tax increases will have on Canadians.

OTTAWA – As federal court hearings begin in Philadelphia to determine the merit of lawsuits contending that the NFL hid the risks of concussion-related brain injuries on players, NDP Consumer Affairs critic Glenn Thibeault (Sudbury) is urging the government to take action to protect Canada’s amateur athletes.
SUDBURY - NDP believes the Harper Conservatives are turning their backs on business and small communities in Northern Ontario with massive cuts to program funding for the Federal Economic Development Agency for Northern Ontario (FedNor).
“This is more than bad timing, or a single case of bad judgment. We are seeing a series of bad decisions at the Cabinet level - from staffing to budgeting to planning - that is failing small communities and businesses throughout Northern Ontario,” said NDP FedNor Critic, John Rafferty (Thunder Bay - Rainy River).
