Canadians are asking: who do you trust to lead health care negotiations?

New Democrat leader Jack Layton committed today to maintaining the 6 per cent escalator for health care funding. Layton noted that this is already part of the government of Canada’s projections.

With key health care negotiations taking place in the next Parliament, Layton is looking for a mandate in this election to lead those negotiations.

“This is a question of leadership,” said Layton. “I’m asking all Canadians: who do you trust to lead the next health care negotiations?”

New Democrat plan addresses gang recruitment, home invasions

New Democrat Leader Jack Layton announced today a plan to partner with local communities to eliminate gang violence with a three-tiered plan to stamp out crime at the root. At the heart of his plan is a commitment to hire 2,500 more permanent police officers.

New Democrats have a plan for next generation of health care: Layton

NDP leader Jack Layton announced new measures today to address challenges faced by Canada’s aging population and help prepare frontline health care for the next generation.

“Yesterday we proposed ways to help families keep older relatives at home longer,” said Layton. “Today we are proposing new measures to help our health care system deal with the growing need for home care and other health services.”

Who do you trust to get results for working families?

New Democrat leader Jack Layton unveiled more practical steps to help take the strain off the family budget. Layton is proposing new measures to provide support for families caring for aging parents, while at the same time building a future for their kids.

“After five years of Stephen Harper, too many families are still fending for themselves when their parents become ill,” Layton said. “Stephen Harper’s answer is an 82-cent daily allowance - that proves Ottawa is broken, but I’ve got a plan to fix it.”

In this election, I’m asking Canadians who they trust to get the job done.

TORONTO – After years of Liberal and Conservative inaction on pensions, New Democrat Leader Jack Layton says it’s time to improve retirement security for Canadians once and for all, and New Democrats have the plan to do it.

“After five years, Stephen Harper has failed to improve retirement security for Canadians,” Layton said.

“In this election, with one third of our workforce without any retirement savings at all, I’m asking Canadians who they trust to fight for the pensions your family relies on.”
