 SUDBURY – NDP Northern Ontario Caucus Chair Glenn Thibeault (Sudbury) denounced the Conservative government’s recent decision to cut the Freshwater Institute’s Experimental Lakes program in Northern Ontario. The Institute has contributed to pioneering research on the effects of pollutants on freshwater ecosystems for the past fifty years.

New Democrats call on government to preserve independent review of bank complaints

 OTTAWA – Today, Official Opposition Critic for Consumer Protection, Glenn Thibeault and Deputy Critic Annick Papillon called on the Government to reverse its decision to end independent banking dispute resolution in Canada. Both consumer and small business groups have been near unanimous in their condemnation of the move.

OTTAWA – The answer to a written question by NDP Consumer Protection Critic Glenn Thibeault (Sudbury) has shown that the government has paid over $61 million to process credit card payments over the past five years. At the same time, new evidence suggests that these hidden credit card fees are also costing Canadian small business over $5 billion annually, hurting consumers' wallets and  damaging Canada's competitiveness internationally.
