NDP MPs launch tour to preserve Northern Ontario’s share of federal electoral ridings

SUDBURY – New Democrat MPs from Northern Ontario are launching a three-stop tour to pressure Stephen Harper to preserve fair representation for Northern Ontario families by protecting the regions 10 seats in the House of Commons.

The NDP bill to reduce serious injuries in amateur sports got the support of Hockey Québec, said MPs Glenn Thibeault (Sudbury) and Matthew Dubé (Chambly–Borduas), who invite the government to work with members of the athletic community to adopt a coherent and effective national strategy.

After learning of the sudden and tragic death of the miner Stephen Perry, yesterday, NDP MPs Claude Gravelle and Glenn Thibeault wanted to express their sincere condolences to the family and friends of the man who had worked for Vale in Sudbury for 16 years.

“As a former employee of a mining company I know firsthand how dangerous it is to work underground. At the end of the day all a miner wants to do is earn a good living and go home to his family. My heart goes out to his family and his co-workers,” said Gravelle.

New technology will make it easier to diagnose head trauma in sports

SUDBURY—Today, New Democrat Sports Critic Glenn Thibeault (Sudbury) was on hand as the Sudbury’s Lady Wolves laced up for trails of a new concussion sensor system designed to help coaches and trainers fight the growing epidemic of concussions in sport.  Impakt Protective Shockbox is a wireless Bluetooth sensor designed to detect the impact to a player’s head and send the results back to the coach for analysis.
